The initial teacher education (ITE) determines how the graduates succeed in their school practice. Therefore, teacher educationists and the social space of departments play crucial a role. In the proposed project we investigate geography teacher educationists and their images of teachers and teaching. We draw on two theories: social representations theory and social construction of reality theory. We operate with 3 work packages concerning three research questions: What is the content and structure of the social representations of teachers and teaching held by teacher educationists? (WP1); What are the social representations of teachers and teaching represented by the departmental artefacts? (WP2); What is the variation and diversity of social representations of teachers and teaching in individual departments' historical and cultural context? (WP3). We will conduct interviews, on-site observations and artefact analysis at geography departments in Czechia. Three journal articles are the main outcomes of the project (2Jimp a 1Jsc).
