The OPEN COST Action explores how the rise of new nationalisms and geopolitical tensions exert a growing pressure on the openness of European higher education and research and examines its implications for the future of Europe. The Action addresses domains such as international engagement, academic freedom, and open science. With the university as a vantage point and a laboratory for understanding wider societal and political issues, the Network will advance the critical discussion on the future of the European integration project (Brøgger, 2023).
