In the proposed project we will address the question of how plants deal with DNA damage, particularly what types of primary DNA lesions are formed, at which genomic sites they accumulate and what kind of protein complexes are involved in the repair of damaged DNA template. We will focus on the implementation of sensitive microscopic, genomic and biochemical approaches that will allow us to effectively investigate the genome stability in wild plants and plants defective for genes encoding histone chaperones, proteins of repair pathways or e.g. replication complexes, and monitor DNA damage profile caused by genotoxic stress.
