The Jean Monnet Chair on “EU Digital Diplomacy”, hosted at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, will provide a focal point for excellent teaching, cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research and engaging public discussion on/about EU digital diplomacy. It will introduce a suite of innovative courses focused on EU digital diplomacy, accessible to students across the entire university, including those typically not exposed to EU studies, thereby broadening their analytical skills and deepening their understanding of the EU’s digital influence. Accompanying the academic curriculum, a series of lectures will be designed to engage a highly diverse audience (spanning different backgrounds, ages, levels of exposure to EU studies, and professional experiences), fostering societal dialogue on pivotal topics in EU digital diplomacy. The project will also produce top-quality research articles (published in an open access mode) and working papers, providing novel insights and policy recommendations vital for the evolution of EU digital diplomacy. It will also facilitate policy-making discussions by bringing together policymakers, academics, and practitioners, thereby influencing digital diplomacy strategies at both the EU and national levels. Additionally, the project will establish an alumni mentoring program that connects students with seasoned professionals in EU studies, fostering a community of experts and enhancing the long-term sustainability and impact of the field.
