Why have relations between the UK and Germany deteriorated so dramatically for much of the period between 2010 and 2024, and what can be done to reverse the situation? This is the key question that drives this research programme. With a wide-ranging exploration of the primary factors which shape the British-German relationship, we aim to examine how the dynamics have shifted in recent years, and where strategic intervention can usefully reset the alliance.
