The sexually active population of aging adults (aged 50+) is growing globally. Despite benefits
of maintaining subjectively fulfilling and satisfactory sex life while aging, adults 50+ rarely seek
information or support regarding their sexual health and well-being (SH&WB). There is limited
scientific understanding of the factors contributing to this reluctance. The goal of this exploratory
project is to conduct mixed-method research among adults 50+ in Czechia and Poland on their
SH&WB-oriented behaviors. We propose to use quantitative data from an original survey to
examine the role of selected demographic characteristics (age, gender, education level),
intrapersonal factors (perceived threat, past help-seeking experiences) and systemic factors
(cues to action, access to services) on SH&WB information/support seeking behaviors among
adults 50+; and qualitative data from group discussions on problematic scenarios (vignettes) to
contextualize these findings within specific healthcare systems and participants’ lived
experiences.
