Description | The order grebes is an archaic group of birds, which are morphologically and ecologically well adapted to aquatic life style, including breeding in floating nests in the littoral zone of water bodies. Four grebe species are breeding at our fishponds. During the breeding season, these birds battle annually with many problems, which they need overcome to reach the successful breeding. In the incubation period, the most important mission for parents is to avoid the predation of eggs. |
