Description | The study deals with a biotechnological application of a bacterial strain Rhodococcus sp. CCM 4446, whose basic phenotypic and genotypic characterisation is complemented with a possible practical application in industrial wastewater treatment. To examine its reaction to toxic metal ions (Cu, Cd, Ni, Pb, Cr), the real samples of wastewater from textile production arising during the process of dyeing and pigmentation of fabrics and containing metallic ions making part of the dye molecules or formed during further upgrading of fibres were used. The metallic ions were analyzed using the method of atomic absorption spectrometry. The acquired results imply that the examined bacterial strain Rhodococcus sp. CCM 4446 has a significant potential in the removal or recovery of toxic metal contents in the tested wastewater. |
