Description This paper presents some problematic aspects of current globalised trade practice and its impacts, especially in countries of the global South. The concept of Fair Trade is defined as one of possible instruments for decreasing global inequalities. In addition to the theoretical explanation, the article includes the viewpoints of producers from certified Fair Trade coffee cooperatives in Colombia, collected as a result of our field research. In conclusion, possibilities for implementing global issues into education, within the so-called ‘global developmental education’, are briefly introduced.
