Description | This chapter is devoted to reading comprehension, which is an integral part of the process of learning foreign languages, because it contributes to the development of the communicative competence in all its components. First, we discuss general issues related to reading in the teaching of foreign languages, our attention being orientated to the factors that facilitate or impede the reading. Then, we reach the issue of reading comprehension of pupils with dyslexia. To practice reading comprehension, we propose the technique of reading sequences that is appropriate not only for dyslexics. At the end of the chapter, we describe an experiment conducted with a group of pupils aged 14 to 15 years where we have tested the technique by reading sequences. |
