Description In the year 2012, a new law on health services entered in the Czech Republic, which also details the issue of examinations of the deceased persons and their autopsies. The new law gives the possibility for the citizens of the Czech republic (during their lifetime for themselves and relatives of the deceased) to refuse the autopsy except the cases defined in law. Doctors and physicians performing autopsies are responsible for fulfilment of the legal conditions for the refusal of the autopsy. Especially in the specialization of forensic medicine we will have to evaluate each case carefully - to respect the wishes of the deceased or their living relatives, however, the risk of undetected serious crimes directed against life and health must not increase.
