Description | The aim of the chapter is to answer the following question: What topics in the field of foreign language didactics in the most significant research studies in the professional journals published worldwide. To answer this question we used the citation database Web of Science and for a detailed analysis we selected 100 most cited articles from the field of foreign language didactics. These studies were subject to both quantitative and qualitative analyses. Five central themes were identified: teacher, learner, processes of foreign language learning and acquisition, management of the processes of foreign language learning, and key concepts of the field. These themes are characterized in more detail and the results are compared to the results obtained in a similar study conducted in the Czech Republic. |
