Description | This paper presents the methodology for the definition and classification of the post-industrial landscape at the local level. The starting point is the mapping and assessment of the current secondary landscape structure of the Kamenicko area (56 km2) represented by a mosaic of land use forms in the southern foothills of the Jizerské hory Mts. In this territory, 88 different forms of land use were identified and mapped in 2011. Selected land use forms were identified as the heritage of the industrial period. All of them were reclassified and processed in the ArcView GIS into the areas of industrial heritage as indicators of the post-industrial landscape (PIL) according to the genetic and content keys. The rate of transformation of previous historical cultural landscape into the contemporary post-industrial landscape was assessed according to the proportion of the PIL indicators in the elements of the 500 x 500 m square grid overlaid on the map. Identified PIL indicators percentage rates of the squares were then related to the centres of squares. By the interpolation to values of predetermined intervals of the landscape transformation intensity among the centres of squares, respective areas with a specific degree of transformation were identified. According to the rate of transformation, the PIL typology was performed comprising a total of 5 types: dominant post-industrial, subdominant post-industrial, significantly post-industrial, marginally post-industrial landscape and others. All types are documented by individual examples taken from the study area. Conclusion of the paper brings reflections on how to deal with the different PIL types. |
