Description | The chapter Cognitive abilities and their intercultural context by Denisa Denglerová described and explained the possible differences in cognitive abilities of Roma children and children from majority societies by analysing various theoretical concepts and interesting research design. By explaining the concept of intelligence itself, she pointed out that the ways we measure intelligence in various cultures brings difficulties. First she briefly introduced the culture understanding in psychology context and then she dealt in details with the term intelligence and its variability across cultures. This part of chapter about the connection of various cognitive abilities was followed by cognitive style analysis and its differences in eastern and western culture. Finally the author concluded that the Roma minority belongs to eastern culture. |
