Description | Linguistic analysis of a contract concluded in 1329 between John of Luxembourg, King of Bohemia, and William I, Count of Bar, focuses on orthographic, phonetic, morphological and syntactic phenomena. This official administrative text illustrates examples of transformation of the French in the 14th century when the disintegration of the declination system was due to the extinction of pronunciation of the final consonant –s. However, the text retains a solid structure with archaic words and structures typical for the legal style. It is a unique authentic document of the development of French language. |
