Description This paper is focused on musical preferences of university students, which relate to the musical folklore. Report uses the results of empirical research realized by Department of Music Education, Faculty of Education, Masaryk university. We are interested in the relationship of youth to the traditional music. We specifically focus on young people, who underwent music education at primary school and high school. We concentrate on the position of music education in this area and the impact that teachers of music have on their students. This paper points out the teachers and their views regarding the representation of folk songs in the classroom. In addition to interpretation of the results mentioned research also compared the partial results of the survey with the results that in her work indicates Judita Kučerová.
