Description | The article deals with the existence of the unpreserved work Liber secretorum Aulae regiae, the authorship of which is sometimes ascribed to Peter of Zittau, abbot of the monastery in Zbraslav (Aula regia). The author of this article summarizes the existing, partially opposing views of this issue. On the basis of new findings, resulting from research of primary sources, she comes to the conclusion that there existed a work (or at least some records) on miracles in Zbraslav, titled the Volumen secretorum Aulae regiae in the sources, written in the same monastery; its author, however, is unknown. In close relation to the question of the Volumen secretorum, the article presents two contemporaneous collections of miracles: the Libellus secretorum Aulae regiae by Peter of Zittau, which is part of the Chronica Aulae regiae as the 18th chapter of its second book, and the Descriptio miraculorum by John of Loket, abbot of the monastery in Waldsassen. |
