Description This study inquires into aspects of lifestyle of the clients of environmental dating sites in the context of individualization and environmental issues. Findings are based on both quantitative and qualitative analyses of one thousand randomly selected profiles of a specific group of environmentallyfocused singles searching for partners with similar values. Dating sites for environmentalists identify their users as ‘green singles’. The article presents a critical view of the environmental dimension of their lifestyles and also calls into question the stereotypical concept of ‘singles,’ which views them as free individuals who have voluntarily chosen a hedonistic lifestyle without regard for the environment. Discussion includes the characteristics that attest to a shared identity amongst users of these sites and an attempt to identify the motives behind their lifestyle choices.
