Description Thanks to the development of web technologies in recent years, 3D cartographic visualization is not applied only in combination with expensive desktop software. 3D spatial data can be displayed directly in web browsers using open libraries, which are based on JavaScript language and WebGL. These technologies allow you to display directly in the web browser 3D choropleth and diagram maps, virtual globes, as well as models of landscapes and cities. For each type of spatial data visualization has been created an example using the X3DOM library. X3DOM utilizes to store 3D data open format X3D (eXtensible 3D). This paper also describes the procedures of constructing X3D files using computer graphics software and GIS programs, both commercial and free available. Data transformed into X3D can be enriched about interactive functions implemented in JavaScript. Advantages and disadvantages of 3D visualizations created by means of X3DOM are discussed in the conclusion. It was also drawn a comparison between X3DOM and GoogleEarth.
