Description | In Aristotle's scientific system cosmology is a part of the science of the nature. Process of the scientific inquiry in this field is in broad sense based on the general methodology of science as we know it from Posterior Analytics. In the narrow sense, we can talk about definition of the subject and practices in particular scientific works. A closer look at Aristotle’s arguments in treatise On the Heavens suggests that we are dealing with an inconsistent set of methods and starting points. Does this mean that Aristotle betrays his own principles? Aim of this talk is to outline the possible answers and point out the problems associated with effort to find a satisfactory justification for the various procedures in Aristotle’s methodology of science. |
