Description | There are examples how can controversial work in the field of parapsychology lead to a progress in our understanding of scientific method (especially concerning meta-analysis and other statistical techniques). In last couple of decades parapsychology was at the forefront of the implementation of computer-controlled experiments. The presentation focusus on the automated ganzfeld studies and discusses methods, advantages and disadvantages of maximal control of research. It is examined how far in that direction could science go. There are a lot of frequent mistakes and imperfections in contemporary scientific praxis that can be partially eliminated by increasing degree of control in scientific experiments. This constitutes one reason why debate on parapsychology can be interesting for every scientist. |
