Field Physiology
Keywords ABC-transporter stem cells hypoxia
Description High level of ATP binding cassette (ABC) transporters expression is charakteristic for stem cells and various types of cancer stem cells. For multidrug resistance (MDR) are responsible ABC B1/P-glycoprotein/MDR1, ABC C1/ multidrug resistance associated protein 1 (MRP1), and ABC G2/BCRP(1). These transporters protect stem cells against toxic substances, either endogenous or exogenous origin. Moreover they also have an important role in regulating the differentiation and proliferation of diverse cell types.
