Description | Coralline algae (Corallinales, Sporolithales, Rhodophyta) of Middle Badenian lithothamnion limestones from the Vrchná Hora locality in vicinity of Stupava (Vienna Basin, Slovakia) were studied in point of view of coralline algae taxonomy. Identified coralline algae species are: Lithothamnion minervae Basso, L. ramosissimum (Reuss) Piller, L. valens Foslie, L. sp., Phymatolithon calcareum (Pallas) Adey & McKibbin, Mesophyllum sp., Lithophyllum sp., Spongites albanensis (Lemoine) Braga, Bosence & Steneck and Sporolithon sp. Some of them, Phymatolithon calcareum, Lithothamnion ramosissimum and Spongites albanensis were described from other Badenian localities Sandberg, Vajarská and Modrý majer in earlier papers (Schaleková, 1978, 1988) and three of determined species are known also as recent species: Lithothamnion minervae, Lithothamnion valens a Phymatolithon calcareum. |
