Description | Johann Philipp Joendl (1782-1870) is considered in the current Czech literature as -a leading figure of neoclassical architecture in the country-. It is therefore certain interesting that, although he worked as an architect and engineer with the princes of Dietrichstein in Moravia for many years, his local construction activity is not well known. The aim of this study is therefore (a) a preliminary sketch of his work in Moravia, (b) reflection on the function and practice of director of buildings in Moravia in the first 19th century. |
