| Description | This paper deals with the Czechoslovak Theatre Act of 1948. In the first part of this paper the cultural function of the state is explained. In the second part of the paper the stenographic protocols of adoption of the Theatre Act in 1948 are analyzed. Then the arguments for adopting the Theatre Act of 1948 and the present arguments used to justify cultural policy are compared. The aim of this paper was to find out if the democratic state can use the same or similar arguments as those used for the adoption of the Theatre Act of 1948. |
