Description | EPOSS & SEPSIS-Q are research projects aimed at the development of a database for parametric monitoring of patients with severe sepsis and the mapping of sepsis epidemiology in the Czech Republic, as well as on the assesment and improvement of quality of care provided to patients treated for severe sepsis. Design: observational, non-interventional, retrospective study. Setting: selected intensive care units at university and regional hospitals. Methods: the article introduces the aim, development of the study protocol and project management, primary and secondary outcomes, database structure and technical solution. The technical solution includes four components: 1. data-acquisition multicentric system, 2. information website http://eposs.registry.cz, 3. education portal http://www.sepsis-q.cz an interactive player of educational clinical scenarios of severe sepsis cases. Conclusion: the technologies and methods used in the projects help healthcare professionals to assess the quality of health care provided to patients treated for severe sepsis, and promote future physicians education using new teaching methods. |
