Description | Fuller and Goffey in their concept of evil media studies claim that not only users affect the programmed media, but also the media are actively affecting our behaviour and ways of thinking. Digital media are not waiting for operators’ commands as it might seem from the above definition of interactive media, but many, even most of their activities, are happening out of our control, without our knowledge and immediate intervention. They even communicate with each other and other devices more often than with humans. The authors present a sixteen stratagems (rhetorical figures) of evil media studies derived from observations of the processes associated with operations of the new media infrastructure. They include descriptions of the basic framework of the research, suggestions for design innovations, or theoretical concepts. Main features and conceptual paradigm of evil media studies methodology will be introduced during the presentation. |
