Description | The historiography of Czech philosophy requires accepting certain assumptions. In our environment we sometimes speak of Czech philosophy, sometimes of Czech philosophical thought. These are not synonymous. Philosophy denotes "academic philosophy", the work of professional philosophers. Philosophical thought has a wider sense - the philosophical thoughts of not only philosophers, but occasionally also special scientists, writers, politicians and others. History of Czech philosophy not only studies the changes of our philosophical thought, but also its contribution to the forming of Czech culture and national life. History of national philosophy are part of history of national culture and history of the nation. History of Czech philosophy does not include works written in Czech only - the elite had used Latin and later German for a long period of time. In addition, other nationals contributed to the development of philosophy on Czech. |
