Description | The fourth edition of the Melantrich Bible from 1570 stands near the middle between modern Czech with its consistent use of negative concord, and 14th century Old Czech which shows some examples of simple negation. Negative concord are the basic means of negation, relic of the older period, however, still appear. In this talk, I will compare Melantrich Bible with another contemporary texts, and try to decide whether the use of negation in Melantrich Bible is common in 16th century Czech or the state is caused by biblical tradition. |
