| Description | The chapter presents partial outcomes of a longitudinal research which focuses on the poetics of Czech theatre of the absurd and Czech model drama of the 1960s. The paper deals with the function of proper names in original Czech dramas which come under the heading of the Theatre of the Absurd. A selected sample of 30 dramas by 15 playwrights is being analysed from the point of view of identification, esthetics, classification, characterization and association. The research results clearly show that the Czech theatre of the absurd contains names of different types and functions, however, in the individual varieties of this genre certain unifying tendencies can be found. |
