Description During the year 2011 a yearlong monitoring of BTEX and PAHs was done in Valašské Meziříčí on the location Obora II. The imission limit was not exceeded for benzene, but in case of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) annual average concentration was four times greater than the imission limit. The temporal trend of BaP concentrations indicates that permanent industrial sources and traffic are not the crucial causes of imission limit exceedance for BaP on observed location. On the other hand, this temporal trend is typical for cases where the local combustion sources used for heating of family houses or smaller factories are the main emission sources of PAHs. Further, the measured data indicate that there is probably an important source of emission of benzene in location of Valašské Meziřící and its close surrounding, which can accidently issue quite high amount of this harmful substance into the air. The duration of these occasional episodes is up to three hours at maximum.
