Description | A diode laser thermal vaporization (DLTV) is a sample introduction technique to inductively coupled plasma (ICP), which presents a low-cost alternative to the commercial laser-ablation systems and nebulizers The determination of cobalamin derivatives is of great importance in pharmaceutical analysis. Here we present determination of cobalamins using DLTV ICP MS. Furthermore, the coupling of sensitive DLTV ICP MS with the TLC separation is investigated. Ascending thin layer chromatography (TLC) separation of cobalamins was performed on cellulose – aluminum sheets at ambient temperature in the dark, eluting with solution of n-butanol:ethanol:water (10:3:7). The black ink line was printed over the evolved chromatography sheet, which was used as the substrate for the DLTV technique. The TLC chromatogram was scanned in a simple laboratory-built chamber with the diode laser. |
