Description | The chapter analyses selected assessment tools such as developmental scales and questionnaires for parents commonly used abroad as an integral part of comprehensive assessment. Ongoing assessment of the language skills in children with hearing impairments appears to be essential, especially for parents. Family plays a key role in the child's language development and using developmental scales can be helpful to understand next developmental stages and to reach set goals. The chapter presents the results of qualitative research conducted in January and June 2013 with two preschool boys with severe hearing loss. The main research technique was the observation and questionnaires for parents of the boys, the staff from the counselling centre for children with hearing impairments and teachers from nursery schools where the boys are educated. |
