Description In 2011 a total of 112 sites with Calamagrostis pseudophragmites were found along the Ostravice River in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids (Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts.). Comparing these sites with sites mapped in 2009, we found that 37 populations remained stable, 78 disappeared and 75 were found as new. An obvious reason for this large change in the distribution of Calamagrostis pseudophragmites are floods that occurred in the spring and early summer in 2010. Disturbances by floods caused emergence of several new, although small populations. But at the same time the potential competitors were weakened as well (especially Phalaris arundinacea, willow shrubs and invasive plants). Calamagrostis pseudophragmites occurred mostly in sparse to moderately dense herbaceous vegetation in 2011. The majority of populations were recorded on gravel bars and along the shores.
