Description The paper concerns the development of final language tests at the Faculty of Law, Masaryk University in Brno, within the framework of the IMPACT project. The main objective of the project is to standardize final language tests within all languages and at all faculty departments of the Language Centre. The paper deals with the development of final language tests in English and German at the Faculty of Law, especially with the differences between current tests and tests that are being designed. The authors will explain the reasons that have led to these changes and also the consequences and impact the tests will have on future language education. At present, the tests focus on testing legal terminology and translation, while the skills of writing and listening are neglected. Therefore, the aim of the project is to include all the skills into the tests. Thus, the tests would more correspond to the criteria of The Common European Framework of Reference and the real needs of prospective lawyers.
