Description | The spectrum of contemporary landscape education and research is ranging from the mapping and study of natural and cultural landscapes of contemporary Belgium and Europe (own landscapes classification completed), through historical landscape research, usually focused on inventory and rescue activity, to the perception of the landscape and its conception as a social construct. On the territory of Belgium, the study is primarily focused on the gully erosion. Individual major events, such as cloud-bursts and their consequences in gully systems are monitored. In the research engagement of physical geographers are also the traces of terrain forming processes running in the Pleistocene in the current landscape. The longstanding research of the soil erosion processes in the context of human activities is being carried out in Ethiopia. Doctoral and master programm students actively participate in the research as the part of their education. |
