Description Abstract Physical activity is recommended for preventing various diseases, controlling weight or delaying the onset of chronic disorders. When physical acitivity is done regularly, the body enhances fuel utilization by adapting its metabolism to increased energy expenditure. However, sport-induced metabolic changes can alter the serum concentrations of numerus laboratory parametres. These modificiations, and especially increases in these parametres, can often get out of the normal range, leading to further examinations, moreover - to training and competition termination. When unusual values are detected, athletes should be warned about potential danger associated with physical activity. This study examines 15 ultra runners who completed 100km running race (Czech Championship 2013), detailing some chosen biochemical, haematological and immunological changes before and immediately after the race. These changes are related mainly to haemathological variation, liver and muscle damage incidence and reaction of some imunology parameters. Such a control could give us a valuable information concerning possitive and negative effects of strenous exercise on human health.
