Description | Study characterized original status of quality of waters surrounding the WWTP Langwiese (river Schussen, south-west Germany) before the application of modern technologies (activated carbon, ozonization). The study monitored toxic compounds (exposure), toxic potentials (effects of estrogens in vitro and in vivo) as well as direct toxic effects in river (influence on fish). Significant effects associated with micropollutants were confirmed (in comparison to reference localities), which will further be monitored after the technology which should improve the water quality is introduced at the WWTP. |
