Description This chapter deals with the potential for the authentic and creative art work of persons with special needs, which is part of the productive strategies of art education. Art and art education are based on the paradigm of preserving the authenticity and originality of a person in accordance with the qualitative development of his/her personality. The mental and physical otherness of people is refl ected in barriers in interpersonal communication and behaviour. Suitable art education allows the enrichment of the cultural capital of a person, and the development of his/her social skills. It may prevent psychosocial failure and allow a person’s potential to create artistically to develop.
