Description The present invention discloses a substrate for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy, which comprises a carbon fiber (A), coupled to the electrically conductive wire (F) by means of electrically conductive adhesive (C) inserted into the glass capillary tube (D), so that at least part of the carbon fiber (a) protruding from the mouth of the capillary (D), wherein the space between the carbon fiber (A) and the glass capillary tube (D) is sealed with epoxy resin (E), wherein the carbon fiber (A) comprises a nano-structured metal layer. A method of preparation involves attaching a carbon fiber (A) to the capillaries (D) and the subsequent deposition of nano-structured metal layer with the use of metal counter electrode in an environment of distilled, demineralised or deionised water due to the electric current passing through the system.
