Description | Aeromonads are ubiquitous bacteria mainly occuring in water, or in soil.Besides environmental isolates, some reoresentatives of aeromonads were and are isolated as pathogens from different types of infections in animals or humans. Therefore these bacteria are considered to be opportunistic pathogens. Aim of this study was the identification of mesophilic aeromonads isolated from water and clinical sources. Initial identification was based on biochemical methods. As a screening tool PCR methods for detection of virulence genes were used. Presence of virulence genes among these isolates suggests potential pathogenicity of these bacteria. |
