Description | My presentation will introduce current experimental research based upon propositions of grounded cognition theory ans etologic observations of submissive behaviour. The research focuses on the bodily position of kneeling. Kneeling and other similar body positions can be found in many religious rituals, usually connected to expressions of respect, obeisance and subordinance. From the point of view of the Grounded cognition theory, such body position could be understood not only as mean of expression, but also as source inducing specific states and feelings, influencing somatic processes and cognitive appraisal. The presented research will also serve as a illustration of problems and issues in experimental research in social sciences and humanities. |
