Description Spontaneous / unstructured / free play is considered one of the most >important activities of the preschool age. It allows the child to use its >imagination during creative activities, to satisfy its interests and needs >and to express its experience. It further simultaneously respects its >individual pace of actions, as well as may contributes to the development >of social interactions. The paper presents suggestions for and aspects of >employing an educational toy with the aim to develop pre-mathematical >ideas / concepts / projections both at home and in kindergarten. The educational toy is charachterised and activities are described aimed at matching, linking and sorting objects known to children from day to day reality and creating geometric figures with the objects in the plane. Specific examples are presented of outcomes of individual activities based on own invention of children.
