| Description | Disturbances of gait are common in the elderly. Reduced mobility markedly impairs the quality of life and associated falls increase morbidity and mortality. Gait disorders are not an preventable conseguence of ageing, but implicate the presence of underlying diseases that warrant specific diagnostic tests. In this article, differential diagnostics, clinical classification, the assessment of gait and balance and therapy are mentioned, in addition to concluding suggestions and remarks. |
