Description | In the early 1930s, The Pere Castor (Papa Beaver) Series created a revolutionary approach to children's literature with its educational and didactic subtext. This series could not come into being without the direct inspiration of several protagonists of Czech reformist teaching methods (František Bakule, Ladislav Havránek, Ferdinand Krch) and co-operation with Czech artists (Lída Durdíková, Josef Lada, Jaroslav Zdrůbecký). The talk introduces the fundamental philosophy of this series together with its best known titles and authors. Pere Castor series; children's literature; France; reformist teaching methods |
