Description In the first part of my paper I spoke shortly about the literary genre of chronica in the late Antiquity and it's basic characteristics. I payed special attention to the chronological aspects in these works. In the second part I presented the author I chose – Iohannes Biclarensis. He lived in the 6th and 7th century in Visigothic kingdom on Pyrenean Peninsula and his only surviving work, the Chronica, is one-of-a-kind source for the turbulent reigns of Leovigildus and Reccaredus in the end of 6th century A.D. In the third part I focused on the significance of chronology in this opus, I presented an analysis of all the dating formulas he uses and in conclusion I demonstrated on some example the shift in Iohannes's perspective through the chronicle.
