Description Lanscape zone buffering stream network influences transport of chemical substances and particulate matter from terrestrial to fluvial ecosystems. Additionally, the riparian vegetation is source of allochthonous organic matter entering the streams and it also regulates light conditions in channel. Based on data from 23 watersheds we developed scoring system combining riparian vegetation type with land use in stream corridors. Classification of stream network was done using aerial photographs. Information was summarized for stream corridors varying in spatial extent of catchments upstream the studied sites. Ralationships among corridor scores, chemical and macroinvertebrate characteristics were analyzed. Study results enriched knowledge on land-stream relationships supporting planning and evaluation of restoration projects.
