| Description | The paper reflects a period, when physical education and sport in Czechoslovakia were subordinated to a communist regime. Due to a wide public interest in sport it became a significant tool of affecting people´s minds. Sport was financed to a great extent by the state. Citizens were motivated to sport particularly in order to improve their work efficiency as well as fitness for the sake of state defence. Sport was strongly politicised. In the monitored period the organisation of physical education and sport were gradually transferred from the state organs to a centralised united physical-education organization Czechoslovak Association of Physical Education that kept its exclusive function till 1989. |
