Description We present initial results of measurements of active layer thickness and its thermal regime on the Ulu Peninsula, the northern part of James Ross Island. Since 2011, data acquisition system records temperatures in the active layer at marine terrace on the northern shore of the Ulu Peninsula. Air temperature, snow depth, global and reflected radiation wre measured by an automatic weather station located several meters from the temperature borehole site (nearby the Czech Johann Gregor Mendel Station). We determined the ground temperature regime and thickness of active layer in 2011-2012. The effect of air temperature on ground temperature variation was evaluated by means of regression analysis.
