Description The large burial ground from Great Moravia Empire (8. – 10. Century) was discovered in Znojmo - Hradiště in 2007. There have been excavated more than 500 graves since 2007. The graves with two individuals are very common. Archaeologists suppose that individuals buried together should be relatives. The analysis of ancient DNA can confirm this theory. The soil conditions of the site are very pleasure for ancient DNA preservation. Bone and tooth tissue from skeletons founded in double graves was separated, cleaned and milled. Ancient DNA was purified, quantified and finally the genetic profile of individuals was determined. The quantification showed that ancient DNA has persisted and the amount of co-isolated inhibitors from the soil did not inhibit the PCR. Sex and genetic profile of individuals was determined.
